The Vibe
Scruples is a quaint, cozy hair salon and day spa with a classy victorian feel. Housed in an antique home on Route 190 in Enfield and conveniently located within minutes of exit 47 off Interstate 91, Scruples is well worth a visit.
The Little Things
It felt very personalized at Scruples. When I checked in at the salon area, I was escorted to the spa, rather than directed to the spa area. Again, on my way out, I was escorted all the way to the door, rather than left on my own to find the exit.
| I also felt very comfortable at Scruples with it's cozy victorian flair. There was crown molding on the walls, deep, warm wooden furniture, luxurious roman shades on the windows, warm neutral colors on the walls, and just enough floral accents to invoke that relaxing feeling. |

The Star Treatment
I indulged in two wonderful treatments at Scruples, a pedicure and customized facial. Both services were performed by Melissa, an esthetician whom I found to be comforting and quite knowledgeable.
My pedicure began with a very warm foot bath, which was much needed on the cold, snowy night that I visited. The pedicure chair itself was enough to whisk me away to a more relaxing mental place, as it not only massaged, but also reclined and slide forward or back so that I could be as comfortable as possible. I'm pretty certain that I dozed off for a few minutes during my foot soak! While my feet were being soothed in the whirlpool foot bath, Melissa offered me a choice of beverage. I chose an orange infused tea to help warm my insides.
The pedicure continued with a good foot and leg scrub exfoliation and lots of attention to my toes. During the treatment, Melissa and I chatted about everything from how long the spa has been open to the benefits of different types of facial treatments, to even some detailed conversation about waxing! We talked about it all during the pedicure. Melissa was so friendly and easy to talk to, it just made the entire service that much better.

In my next treatment, a customized facial, Melissa and I didn't talk as much as I was busy relaxing and she was busy helping me relax! The spa uses Pevonia, Glymed, and Eminence products. I had Pevonia during my facial, which felt great on my skin. I desperately needed a facial and Melissa customized the treatment to fit my needs, including a steam clean, exfoliation, and soothing mask. The treatment lasted a solid 75 minutes, maybe slightly more. |
I must admit, I could instantly see improvements in my skin as many dry lines had disappeared and my skin had a more even tone to it. Melissa sent me on my way with plenty of Pevonia samples for me to try at home.
The Distinctive Element
Scruples is a small day spa, with one of viturally everything; one manicure station, one pedicure chair, one massage room and one facial/waxing room. The spa's small size is what makes it so fabulous. I felt special here. It was private and I felt like I had the entire spa to myself.
But perhaps the most distinctive element is the pricing. I found my services, all of which were of very high quality, to be about $10-$20 cheaper than other local day spas! Scruples certainly lives up to it's motto- "Luxurious yet affordable".
What to Keep in Mind
| Scruples Day Spa is located just under 3 miles from Route 91, look for the sign out front on the left side of the road. There is plenty of parking in back as well as a back entrance. Using the back entrance, I walked through the salon to get to the front staircase that led to the second story spa. ...Scruples offers "Instant Gift Certificates" on their website as well as several Specials that are worth checking out before you book your appointments...Scruples will be expanding the spa to include an additional pedicure chair and couples massage in the near future. |
