LetsGoSpa Review- December 2004

The Saybrook Point Inn and Spa is located on the waterfront in historic Old Saybrook, a great destination for a short getaway.  With its picturesque location, numerous attractions and activities, and overnight accommodations, The Saybrook Point Inn and Spa is one complete package!  So during the holiday season, let all your stress slip away by relaxing at this breathtaking Spa of the Month!

Facilities and Atmosphere
The Saybrook Point Inn and Spa has a tranquil feel to it.  The waterfront location combined with soothing décor promotes a sense of serenity.  The spa exudes elegance and resembles a Roman villa with luscious plants, marble countertops, and opulent wall art.  Customers wait for their treatments in the luxurious relaxation room, complete with snacks and teas.

The locker room is fully equipped with robes, slippers, showers and toiletries.  There are eleven treatment rooms as well as a separate area for manicures, pedicures and makeup.  They also have a Spa boutique where we bought the cutest Spa Junkies t-shirts!

Service and Staff
Everyone at the Spa was very friendly.  We were given a tour of the facilities upon our arrival and escorted into the locker room.  The facilities are kept very clean, including the locker room where staff members were constantly in and out checking the trash receptacles and laundry baskets.

Pricing/Range of Services
There are several unique and signature services at Saybrook Point.  They offer a Four Hands Massage, a synchronized massage performed by two therapists.  This treatment is a rare find in CT!  There are several varieties of massage, facial and body treatments (average price of $95) as well as nail, hand and foot, makeup and waxing.  There are also special Teen and Men’s services and packages.

Use of the Fitness Club, indoor pool, steam room, whirlpool and sauna are complimentary with any two services or for guests of the Inn.

Treatments
We indulged in a few of the unique treatments at Saybrook Point.  I had the Saybrook Point Inn Signature Body Treatment.  This body treatment included not only a sea salt body polish but a Moor Mud wrap as well.  Double the pleasure!  The treatment started out with a body scrub made from sea and Epson salts as well as grapeseed oil which is known for a high concentration of antioxidants.  I then showered off in the private Swiss shower located in my treatment room.  This was one of the best features of the service; there were 5 shower heads to massage every part of my body!  The mud wrap was next; it was amazing how wonderful it felt to be completely covered in warm mud, wrapped in a heated blanket and topped off with a relaxing foot massage.  And for the grand finale I enjoyed yet another rejuvenating soak in the Swiss shower.

Jen had the Sweet Milk and Lavender Facial.  They used both Pevonia products and the organic line by Farmaesthetics.  The facial was ultra relaxing and the lavender smelled great.  Liz, Jen’s esthetician, was attentive to Jen’s skincare needs and was very thorough in cleansing and extracting impurities.  Jen left the facial with smooth skin.

Jen noticed a small red mark above her lip, and when she brought it to the attention of the staff, they quickly applied soothing lip balm to it.  The caring customer service exhibited by the staff made Jen feel even more comfortable about the services she was receiving.
Both Jen and I had the Sports Massage as well.  The massage therapist knew we were there for relaxation and did everything is his power to make sure this happened.  His touch was never painful, even for deep tissue.  He asked for feedback on the pressure and was conscious about not being too talkative, only speaking when he felt necessary.  Overall, the massage was very relaxing.

We finished our indulgence with a delectable Sunday brunch buffet at the Terra Marre Grill.

This Spa is Perfect For…
An overnight or weekend getaway with your significant other.  Both times I’ve visited Saybrook Point I’ve noticed several couples in the spa.  An additional benefit is that there are not separate facilities for men and women so you will not be apart from your significant other for long.

What Sets This Spa Apart?
The destination.  The Inn, Grille and Spa are located along the waterfront and offer breathtaking views.

Would I go back?
Yes.  I would go back with husband to enjoy the entire facility from the relaxing spa treatments to the fantastic food at the Terra Marre Grille!
