A Spa for Every Party (Jen, October 18, 2006)

"Let's do a Spa Day", Heather said to me when I asked what she wanted to do for a party in her honor. (I'll let her tell you why we're celebrating, but for now, just know there's a party on the horizon). "Let's do it in the city", she says, "something fun and different"

Before I start thinking about what time to meet, where to eat, and what color polish to get on my nails, I first have to find the right spa. Easy task in a city with thousands of spas, right? Right. Wrong!

That's when I realized that I needed to find out what type of party Heather wanted, because there are spas to fit virtually every personality, style, and party.

Large and Luxurious
These spas are great for spa parties because of their large facilities that, with enough advance notice, enable you to coordinate everyone's appointments at the same times.  These spas also typically have several amenities from steam rooms to fitness facilities, that allow you to spend the better portion of the day with your closest friends pampering and primping. Large spas exude luxury and indulgence.

While these spas are great for accomodating groups, their large size means that you could find yourselves having to be quiet in the relaxation room and may even simply 'lose' each other in the large facility. This may not be your definition of "party". Large spas tend to be more costly than others.

Big and Beautiful
Medium Spas are typically large enough to handle several people at one time (with enough notice of course!) and have some or all of the amenities of the large spas. While you may get most of the facilities of the large spas, you may not get all of the little extras, such as variety of snacks and beverages, although you may get more personalized services. Be sure to check the size of the locker area, number of showers, spa menu, and number of treatment rooms to ensure the spa meets your groups needs.

Cute and Cozy
If you have a smaller group, you may be able to actually reserve the entire cute and cozy spa all to yourselves. This lets you feel like you are at a private, exclusive spa made just for you. The best part? Besides great, personal service and probably the best bang for your spa buck, the small size of these spas allows you and your friends to kick back, relax, and make some noise if you want.

Nails and Noise
Although we don't specifically list nail salons on LetsGoSpa.com, there are plenty of nail salons that would make the perfect party atmosphere. Even small salons house several manicure and pedicure stations that could service your entire group at once! The atmosphere encourages fun and talking. The prices are very reasonable, and low cost add-on's such as a Chair Massage are usually available.

The next time you plan a spa party, be sure to think about when you want your party atmosphere to begin, at the spa or after the spa and that will help guide you in finding the right spa for your group.
