Turning a Wrap into an Exotic Retreat (Jennifer, March 22, 2005)

In Connecticut I’ve had herbal, seaweed, mud, and chocolate.  Yes, I’m talking about wraps.  For me a wrap is a great way to relax and nourish your skin.  At the end of a sun-filled week at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas, I decided to treat my skin to some much needed nourishment and purification.  I looked for the most exotic treatment that the Mandara Spa at Atlantis could offer.  The treatment of choice?  The Elemis Exotic Coconut Rub and Milk Ritual Body Wrap.

I went in thinking it would be similar to the chocolate wraps I’ve had, where the product is a mud product infused with scented oils.  I was expecting coconut-scented mud.  I was very wrong.  This wrap actually used real smashed coconuts and warm (almost hot) milk to nourish the skin.  The coconut, which was massaged onto my skin, was a natural exfoliant.  Once I was covered in white coconut, warm milk was poured all over me.

It was so relaxing!  Once my body was covered with these natural ingredients, I was wrapped in foil and several layers of blankets so that the detoxification could begin! While detoxifying, I was given a facial cleansing and an ultra relaxing scalp massage.  It was fabulous.  I then rinsed the coconut from my body using the shower in my treatment room.  Once the coconut was gone, I ended my treatment with a relaxing half hour back massage.

The coconut smelled so great, I felt as though I had been whisked away to a tropical paradise during this treatment.  It was the perfect way to end my relaxing vacation in the Caribbean!
