High Tech in the Hills (Jen, July 1, 2005)

Pain free extractions...Shiatsu massaging pedicure chairs that also recline...Electronic dry brush face exfoliator...Sunless tanning in less than 10 minutes...

Sound too good to be true? Not at Chi Day Spa in Litchfield, Connecticut, where we found all of this high tech equipment and more!

We each experienced relaxing facials that were enhanced by the equipment used at Chi. We loved the feel of the electronic dry brush exfoliation. It felt like it was more effective at removing dead skin cells than just an exfoliation product. To make sure our skin was thoroughly clean, Chi used a high frequency galvanic machine to kill bacteria that lies deep within the skin. Although this may sound pretty invasive, it actually felt like a light massage on our faces.

We were left speechless when it came time for extractions. We were both treated to painfree extractions for the very first time! Chi uses a special vaccum suction technology that literally sucks the impurities from your skin. Pearl O'Loughlin, owner of Chi Day Spa, said "We use high quality products that make the skin soft. Once the skin is soft enough, the impurities come right out." Leaving no need for painful tools that pull the impurities out of their hiding place.

Although our facials had to end, the technology at Chi did not. We also experienced pedicure chairs that massaged our heads, necks, and backs. The chairs also had a small handheld nozzle which the pedicurists used to better rinse our legs and feet. We then sampled the California Tanning System. This brand new technology provides a safe alternative to tanning booths or the harmful rays of the sun. With this system, the tan is airbrushed onto your skin and you can walk out with a glowing tan in no time at all.

So, does all this technology really make a difference? We think yes. And we think the technology at Chi is definitely worth the drive to Litchfield.
