Count Your Blessings…Count Your Day Spas! (Jen, April 25, 2005)

How many times have you looked at your nails, decided that you needed a manicure and scheduled the first appointment you could get?  During how many stressful days at work have you decided that you absolutely needed a massage? And how many of these times did you have problems scheduling any of these services? 

In Connecticut, we have Day Spas like we have grocery stores, every town seems to have at least one.  With over 150 Day Spas on our Connecticut Directory, it’s probably not hard for you to find a spa that can handle your last minute need for a manicure or one that can hear the desperation in your voice as you beg for a massage.

I admit, I’ve been taking for granted how lucky we are here in Connecticut.. I'm talking about how many Day Spas we have. I guess I thought everywhere was like here.

Sadly, I found out the hard way that we truly are spolied here in Connecticut.

You see, last week I flew to Ireland.  I suffered through a six hour flight in a broken seat unable to catch any z’s on the plane.  You can imagine how desperate I was to find a spa once I got on the ground.  I needed a massage....Badly.  Besides the broken seat on the plane, the flight also managed to suck every ounce of moisture out of my skin.  I needed a facial...Badly.

Seeing as I was on the outskirts of Dublin, the capital of Ireland, I thought for sure, I’d be able to have my pick of spas.  I enlisted the help of a LetsGoSpa enthusiast to give me the recommendation for the best spas.  Imagine my shock when she told me that I would not find a spa in that town and that best nearby spa was over 45 minutes away!  Sure, plenty of spas exist in Ireland, but they aren’t on every corner or in every town and they aren’t as plentiful and easily accessible as they are here in Connecticut.

So the week went on and I never did make it to an Irish Spa.  As I waited in the airport for my flight to England, I hoped for better spa luck there and I vowed to never again take for granted the variety of spas we have available to us in Connecticut.
