Connecticut Spa offers Wellness Services (Jen, March 18, 2007)
I had a unique spa experience last week. It wasn't a deep cleansing facial or a tension easing massage. It didn 't have anything to do with shaping my nails or scrubbing my skin. It was a wellness consultation and it was one of the most interesting spa hours I've clocked yet.
My consultation started when I met Mike, the Wellness Director at Contours Spa and Wellness in Bloomfield, CT. Mike is a walking inspiration. Weighing in at over 500 pounds at his heaviest, Mike made an important decision to change his lifestyle in everything from his eating, exercising, and even his career. In just a few short years, Mike had lost over 300 pounds, and he did it naturally. Now, Mike uses his experience and knowledge to inspire others to exercise and eat right.
| During my consultation, Mike asked me about my eating and exercising habits then gave me some great advice for finding ways to slowly but surely find better habits. After a brief discussin, we moved to the workout rooms on the spa's second floor. The area is completely separated from the spa and includes a cardio room with treadmill, stationary bike, and elliptical machines. The larger room had strength training equipment. The facility also houses 2 private changing areas with showers. |

Mike took me through a 45 minute workout session where he guided me through various weight training exercises. It was nice to have someone make sure my form was correct and find the appropriate weights for me. Even better, was not having to worry about being in a crowded gym and being intimidated.
Contours Wellness offers several 1-1 services with Mike, ranging from Weight Loss Coaching for when you need weekly encouragement and support, to nutrition coaching and personal training. Beginning later this year, Contours will introduce small group programs and menu planning.
If you are looking to make some changes to your lifestyle, whether signifcant or if you just need a boost to get you back in the swing of working out again, you should stop by and see Mike.
