Imagine a spa treatment that can diminish fine lines and wrinkles.  Does the treatment you’re thinking of involve needles and numbness?  What if we told you that you don’t have to succumb to invasive procedures to knock a few years off your face? 

Shear Artistry Day Spa in Avon has brought to Connecticut a cutting edge treatment that helps reduce the signs of aging.  When we heard about this miraculous treatment, we knew we had to give it a whirl.  

So, what exactly is it?  The Bio Choice Botox Alternative is an intense facial treatment that uses Bio Jouvance products from Paris.  It involves multiple stages of exfoliation to prepare the skin for the Bio Choice hexapeptide serum, which has amino acids that helps relax wrinkles and distribute nerve signals to muscles.  

In English, please…The treatment felt a lot like a facial without the pampering factor.  There was no time for foot or hand massages since the esthetician’s hand were concentrated on the face the entire time.  Just like in a facial, the skin was cleansed and then thoroughly exfoliated with both a gommage exfoliating lotion and an enzyme masque.  And, as with a facial, there’s no escaping the extractions! 

Once the skin is cleansed, exfoliated, and free of impurities, the unique features of this treatment began.  The special serum was massaged into my problem areas.  A cloth strip was placed on top to act as a barrier.  Then galvanic current was used to help the serum penetrate the skin to its second layer where it kills bacteria and helps relax the skin and muscles.  The galvanic current was applied using two paddle type instruments.  It felt a little tingly and I noticed a metal taste in my mouth while the paddles were on my face.  The current was on each of my problem areas for about 3 minutes.  Deeper wrinkles may need more time. 

Does it work?  I must admit, I did see small improvements in the fine lines around my eyes and mouth, after just one treatment.  However, in order to get the most out of this treatment, you must do it in a series.  They recommend once a week for at least 6 weeks.  If you purchase the series, you’ll get a small sized serum to take home and continue the refinements in between treatments.
