LetsGoSpa Review- February 2006
The Vibe
The spa at Camelback Inn is a true escape.  This large spa is located in it’s own building within the resort and features a fitness center, men’s and women’s spas, a lap pool, and Sprouts, the large spa café.  The spa boasts thirty-two treatment rooms, large relaxation rooms both indoor and outdoors, and a very large locker area.  The spa had a natural, native feel with neutral colors and Southwest accents.

The Little Things
The Spa had every amenity I could wish for, from sauna and steam to Jacuzzi and large dressing/vanity area…The spa menu offers several selections of facials, massages, and body treatments.  Many treatments are inspired by Native American cultures, which made the spa experience even more special and unique for me.

The Guy’s Side of Things
The men’s spa was similar to the women’s spa, but also included hot/cold plunge pools in addition to the Jacuzzi tub.  The guy’s side also had steam room, sauna, and several showers, including one Swiss shower.

The Star Treatment(s)
Adobe Clay Purification Treatment.  With a treatment so specifically tied to the region, how could we go wrong?  It started with an exfoliation using a cactus fiber cloth.  Adobe Clay was then applied to the skin and the body was wrapped in a plastic cloth.  Towels were then placed on top so that the body would generate heat to allow the clay to draw impurities from the skin.  While wrapped, a short scalp massage was provided.  We added on a Vichy Shower rinse to complete the experience.  After drying off, the therapist recommended spending a few minutes in the sauna to continue the purification.
With the desert heat comes desert skin, so I indulged in a much-needed facial. I chose the Camelback Inn Signature Facial.  This treatment used June Jacobs products, which had a refreshing citrus scent.  In addition to the hydrating facial, I also received a relaxing hot stone massage of my hands and feet while my pumpkin enzyme masque was setting.

The Distinctive Element
The outdoor relaxation area.  I’ve never seen something like this.  It was very relaxing and felt great to be in the outdoors.  It was also much quieter than the indoor relaxation room and was a great place to relax before and after my service.

What to Keep in Mind
Although I loved the outdoor relaxation area, keep in mind that I visited the spa in February.  During the warmer months, this area may not be as relaxing!…The spa is large and they service several customers at one time.  This meant the relaxation room where customers waited for their services, was more conversational than relaxing…Vichy shower treatments, which are provided in rooms that are located within the locker area, may be provided by a same gender therapist, so if this makes you uncomfortable, be sure to inquire if opposite gender therapists are available.
