LetsGoSpa Review- November 2004

The Vibe
The Equinox is a fitness club with a separate spa located within the facility.  I had everything I needed for a complete workout and spa experience. It is amazing how this busy gym can be transformed to a quiet and soothing haven once you enter the spa wing.  The rooms have vaulted ceilings and tastefully chosen décor.

The Little Things
The Spa employees are very friendly and welcoming.  Althought I was only a one day guest of the fitness club and spa, I was still pampered and treated as if I were a full-time member.

The Star Treatment
I treated myself to a 50 minute Shiatsu massage with John and went to heaven.  It was incredible.  After a two hour workout, my muscles needed some relief and John used Shiatsu pressure point techniques to remove the tension. He felt so bad for my aching muscles that he actually gave me a full hour!

The Distinctive Element
The Equinox is a complete facility. The street level entrance features a large boutique and a café with healthy meals and snacks.  The top floor is fully dedicated to fitness with three aerobics studios, a boxing studio, weight room and cardiovascular room.  The lower level has large locker rooms fully equipped with showers, steam room and several amenities including a bathing suit dryer.  The bottom floor is the Spa and Salon, which also includes a co-ed lap pool, hot and cold plunges, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. The $110 cost for my spa service was well worth it since it was a phenomenal massage and also included full access to the fitness facilities including aerobics classes.

What to Keep in Mind
The Spa at Equinox on 63rd and Lexington is the Flagship Location. The spas at other locations may not have equal facilities, amenities or treatments. For more information about each spa, check the website or call the spa. I've been to Equinox on Broadway at 50th and the spa is much smaller in scale. The menu is limited, it's located on the same floor as the gym, and does not have any amenities.
